Created by melstl on 03/25/2009 at 11:06 PM

Category: Forums -- Pilot Talk

Content:
The Systems Engineering Research Laboratory (SERL) at California State University Northridge is looking for professional pilot subjects to participate in an experiment that involves using advanced flight-deck simulation displays and automation tools to detect and resolve aircraft conflicts. Sponsored by NASA, this experiment supports NASA’s research missions in investigating the human roles and responsibilities in operational concepts being proposed or considered for the National Airspace System, along with investigating and prototyping advanced automation, tools, and interfaces, which support these operational concepts.

The experiment will take a total of four hours to complete. You will be trained on desktop simulation software developed by NASA Ames Research Center that emulates some displays and functions of a commercial flight-deck. You will then be asked questions on your general situation awareness and workload levels.

To participate in this experiment, you must:
· Be a certified pilot (ATP or commercial with turbine-time preferred)
· Have “glass cockpit” IFR experience
· Be current

Thank You!
